Back when I bought my first SLR and wanted to “not suck” at that whole photography business, there was a specific resource I was missing: getting into the head of ‘good’ photographers and understand what they were thinking when they took specific photographs. Sadly, I never discovered such a resource. (No, f/stops and the other technical minutia that dominate online photographic discussion are irrelevant to the beginner.)
While I do not consider myself a ‘good’ photographer, I can at least write about what I was thinking when I released the shutter. It may assist my thought process in the future and potentially serve as a useful aid for others. In that vein, I introduce my Photo Journal, starting with Nighttime Disposal.
